Swechasebak League leader Golam Kibria Tipu detained: Police

Golam Kibria Tipu, General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Swechasebak League and former member of parliament for Jatiya Party, was detained last night after being apprehended by locals in Dakshin Keraniganj, Dhaka.
Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam of Dakshin Keraniganj Police Station confirmed that Tipu was caught in the Bir Baghoir area and handed over to the police by residents.
He is accused in a case filed with Motijheel Police Station, according to the OC. Following his detention, Tipu was transferred to the custody of Motijheel police for further legal proceedings.
Tipu, who was elected as an MP for the Barishal-3 constituency in 2008 on a Jatiya Party ticket, later joined the Awami League. He hails from the Agarpur area under Barishal Sadar upazila.
